Award Winning Water with Zero Forever Chemicals

The City of Tuscaloosa provides some of the cleanest drinking water available in the nation. To meet the needs of the present and future, the City continues to invest into our lakes, source water systems and treatment facilities. Tuscaloosa Water doesn’t just meet national standards – we exceed them. Every drop of water that goes through our system is put through a complex filtration and treatment process to ensure that our water is crystal clear and free of all forever chemicals. Our highly-trained staff at our water treatment facilities provide award-winning, sparkling clean water that is always there for Tuscaloosa.

Clean Water. Always There.

Who We Are

Tuscaloosa Water operates two water treatment facilities – the Ed E. Love and Jerry Plott Water Treatment Plants. At Ed Love, we can treat up to 45.7 million gallons per day, and at the Jerry Plott Plant, we can treat up to 14 million gallons per day. The City of Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas served by Tuscaloosa Water consume roughly 20 million gallons a day. With the capacity to treat over twice the amount of water that our community needs, Tuscaloosa Water remains always there even as Tuscaloosa continues to grow.

The Ed Love plant runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our award-winning operators are constantly working to provide the best quality water. Each of our skilled and highly-trained employees have passed the Alabama Department of Environmental Management Grade IV examination and participate in re-certification and continuing education programs each year. Tuscaloosa Water employees take pride in providing the best water quality possible for you and your family.
