The Jerry Plott Plant received the 2023 Best Operated Plant Award from the Alabama Water Pollution Control Association (AWPCA).
This is the 9th time the Plott Plant has won this award since it was first entered in 2010.
Consideration for AWPCA Awards requires thorough plant inspections resulting in scores based on standardized criteria. The scoring criteria for the Best Operated Plant award includes treatment technique functionality, redundancy, maintenance and laboratory procedures, aesthetics, record keeping and a safety program.
AWPCA was founded in 1946 by water and wastewater professional operators. The goal of the association is to promote the advancement of knowledge of water supply and treatment of potable water and the reclamation of wastewater. Learn more at awpca.net/.
